This project was created not only to help address food insecurity within the Humble community, but also to educate, encourage, and provide lasting resources for individuals and families. The Coop Connection was designed to promote agricultural literacy, nutrition education, sustainability, and a better understanding of food production through hands-on learning and accessible information.

Below are a variety of resources designed by the Texas Curriculum Matrix to help community members learn more about food insecurity, poultry care, egg production, nutrition, sustainable practices, and the importance of agriculture in our everyday lives.

1. Eggs on the Menu - Learn the versatility, function, and nutritional benefit of eggs in a healthy diet, identify the function and role of eggs in a recipe, identify forms of technology used on an egg farm, and understand how eggs are classified by size.

2. Eggs: From Hen to Home - Students trace the production path of eggs, beginning on the farm and ending in their home and identify the culinary uses and nutritional benefits of eggs.

3. Eggology - Identify how the basic needs of a growing chick are met during egg incubation, diagram the parts of an egg, and hatch eggs.

4. My Agricultural Connections - Explore how we are each connected to agriculture through our food, clothing, shelter, fuel, and more. Students will be introduced to agriculture and begin to recognize the depth and complexities of agricultural systems locally and globally.

5. What is Agriculture? - How would you define agriculture? Not with Merriam-Webster's Dictionary. That just doesn't fully capture the importance of agriculture or how it touches all of our lives. Learn how to define agriculture with five words by using this 22" x 34" poster, which engagingly displays the 5-F's of agriculture—farming, food, fabric, forestry, and flowers.
